Surgery Preparation

Depending on which surgery you are undergoing, preparation such as applying lubricating eye drops may be required weeks prior. On the day of your surgery, you will need to have fasted from the night before and arrive at the operating theatre several hours before your surgery is due to commence. 

Nurses will assist in administering eye drops to help dilate your pupils if you are undergoing cataract surgery. You will then meet our anaesthetist who will administer your anaesthetic.

 

Post-Operative Care

You will be discharged several hours after surgery. A protective shield will be provided for you to wear over your eye for the early stages of recovery. As a surgery patient, you will not be able to drive home, and it is strongly suggested that you arrange transport beforehand. 

Over the next few weeks need to attend follow up appointments with Dr Skalicky to assess your recovery from surgery at his clinic's in East Melbourne. Depending on your surgery, further treatment will be administered in the form of eye dressing removal, anti-scarring injections.
